About Linda... Linda was born in Montgomery, Alabama. When she was ten years old, she saw her Dad become a Christian. Until that time, he had been a traveling salesman, seldom home with the family. He was an angry man, hurt as a child by people he loved. God called him to preach when he was in the Army in Germany. He told God he could not because he was not worthy. Two years after he accepted Christ, God offered him a second chance. This time he gratefully accepted the call.
In the years to come, the family sang together Linda's two brothers singing backup and Mama playing the piano. Dad preached. They planted churches in the worst areas of town and in small communities. These were happy days.
As a young woman, Linda worked in the Alabama Governor's Office.
Her service as an administrator and personal assistant to the Governor resulted in leading administrations and transitions of administrations for four governors. She has managed campaigns and directed development for governors and senators and served in several presidential campaigns.
She has an extensive career in development which includes UAB's
Spain Rehabilitation and the Kidney Center and has presented to foundation executors like Bob Hope and Paul Harvey. Linda has directed successful capital campaigns for churches and development projects for many charities, including Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation, The Children's Tumor Institute, The King's Ranch for Boys and Girls, The Alabama Youth Home and Missing Childrens'
Awareness.
As an award winning interior designer, Linda owned Oliver House Interiors for many years. Her work has resulted in several first place and people's choice awards and has been published in several magazines. Her Christmas Show Homes have been featured annually in the newspapers. In addition to her design expertise, Linda has been involved in marketing and public relations and serves as a media and television spokesperson.
Linda is also no stranger to the entertainment industry. In addition to producing major concerts, she has sung with "The Temptations", "Alabama"; and has performed for First Lady Laura Bush.
With two CD's already, Linda is currently recording and writing for a new release. Linda is also completing a book about her daughter's near fatal accident, titled,"Every BODY Has A Story Ashley's Miracle" which will be published in the next few months. A series of
television appearances are scheduled to share Ashley's story.
A familiar face in social and political circles, Linda's gift is connecting people to purpose. Although God's favor has followed Linda throughout her life, it has not always been, as it seems to the onlooker all success without heartache. Linda understands the feeling of hopelessness because she too has recovered from personal tragedy. A marriage that ended when a trusted husband of many years chose to leave for other relationships, a life-threatening battle with fibromyalgia, arthritis, depression and a diagnosis of lupus, near fatal car crashes and then, the near death of her only daughter. These crises have given Linda opportunities to learn to lean on and completely trust the Lord. When, with total surprise to the medical community, her daughter, Ashley, survived a car crash that left her with a diagnosis of brain trauma, broken vertebra in her back and neck that should have left her paralyzed, Linda knew it was time to turn her efforts full time to her life's purpose of helping others know that God's grace is available for the most threatening situations.
Today Linda is a thriving Christian who enjoys life to the maximum. Her heart is to reach out to those who are hurting so desperately and
give them a hand up from the pit of despair until until they, too, can stand on their own and give a hand to others. Linda ministers through music and speaking to audiences across the country and abroad. Humanitarian projects include a recent build involving one hundred contractors from across the country who traveled to Mississippi using their gifts to provide eight homes to families who suffered devastation from Katrina. A second missions effort has provided over nine hundred book bags filled with school supplies, paper, and binders to students in Mississippi, still in recovery from Katrina. Additional home building efforts are underway.
